On March 1st, a joint symposium was held between the University of Tsukuba and the University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Students had a great chance to showcase their research and test their skills through presentations in their respective fields. A huge shoutout to Dr. Van Cat Khanh from our university, who played a key role and was absolutely everywhere making things happen! Please see the article about the interdepartmental exchange agreement represented by Dr. Kiong Ho.

That same day, Dr. Nakao Nomura kindly made time in his busy schedule to join us in Ho Chi Minh City, helping make theTUAN (University of Tsukuba Alumni) gathering happen in the evening after the symposium. Our students also joined the event and had a great time connecting with inspiring alumni who are doing amazing work locally!

March 2nd was Culture Day!
The students immersed themselves in the local nature—getting up close with the soil and plants, and enjoying tropical foods and vibrant scenery unique to the region. They were amazed by the differences from Japan, yet pleasantly surprised to find some unexpected similarities too. It was a journey full of discoveries.

From March 3rd to 5th, the DOJO workshop ‘Biomedical Materials and Technologies Workshop’ was held at International University, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. With the full support of Dr. Long from the International University, local students and Tsukuba University students teamed up and successfully completed all the programs!

And we must not forget Dr. Yukihide Watanabe from our university and Dr. Quynh, who stood firmly on both sides and offered their steadfast support. We are truly grateful for their watchful eyes and wholehearted assistance! We are deeply grateful for Dr. Quynh‘s long-standing and continuous efforts. It may be fitting to refer to her as the one who has ‘made history’ in the activities of the University of Tsukuba in Ho Chi Minh.

To wrap things up, there was a tea ceremony experience! Dr. Watanabe and Dr. Long who is also an alumnus of the University of Tsukuba were chosen to prepare and serve matcha as part of the tea ceremony. Through their performance, the students were able to get a taste of the world of wabi-sabi.🍵
